Hawaiian Tuna Sashimi recipe

This unconventional recipe makes the most of super fresh, sushi grade tuna - it's chopped and tossed with soy and flavourings and is served raw. If raw fish scares you a little, cook it on a griddle pan.

  • 1kg fresh tuna steaks, boned and cubed
  • 150ml light soy sauce
  • 1 bunch spring onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp. finely chopped macadamia nuts
  • 2 tbsp. sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp. toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp. crushed dried red chillies

1. Toss the tuna in a large bowl with the soy sauce, spring onions, macadamia nuts, sesame oil, sesame seeds and red chillies. Cover and put into the fridge for at least two hours before serving.

This dish will taste absolutely fantastic if you buy wonderfully fresh fish. Fish that is not fresh could make you ill if you eat it raw, so be sure to buy the best you can afford. Recipe serves 8-10.
