Creamy Tuna Pasta Bake recipe

An excellent dish to get the children to eat more vegetables, this creamy pasta bake combines pasta, creamy cheese sauce, tuna, peas and broccoli. Serve with a salad or just as it is.

  • 350g fusilli pasta
  • 1 bunch of spring onions
  • 200g mushrooms
  • 200g soft cream cheese with garlic and herbs
  • 200g frozen broccoli florets
  • 150g frozen petit pois
  • 185g tin of tuna, drained
  • 4 tbsp. milk
  • 1 tbsp. oil
  • 100g grated extra-sharp cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper

  1. Preheat the oven to 220C. Cook the pasta in a pot of boiling salted water according to packet instructions until tender.

  2. Quarter the mushrooms and thinly slice the spring onions. Heat the oil in a frying pan. Fry the mushrooms then add the onions and fry until softened and golden.

  3. Add the cream cheese, milk, broccoli and peas. Heat over a low heat until the cheese has melted to form a sauce and the vegetables have thawed. Add the tuna and stir to combine.

  4. Mix the pasta into the prepared sauce, then tip into a bowl. Top with the cheese and bake for ten minutes until browned and bubbling.

If you like, add a little bacon or ham for a bit of extra flavour and saltiness. Recipe serves 4-6.
