Baked Tagliatelle with Tuna recipe

There's nothing better than a creamy, cheesy, oozy pasta bake and this simple tuna baked pasta has bags of flavour for little effort. Serve with a big green salad, or as it is. Feel free to add sweetcorn or other veggies to the bake.

  • 225g tagliatelle pasta, dried
  • 2 tbsp. each butter and plain flour
  • 225ml milk
  • 150g extra-sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 x 185g tin tuna in water, drained
  • 400g frozen peas, thawed

  1. Cook the pasta in boiling salted water according to packet instructions. Drain.

  2. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a saucepan. Once frothy, stir in the flour. Keep stirring and cook for 3-4 minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk, letting the mixture turn smooth before you add any more, whisking all the while until you have a smooth sauce. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until thickened.

  3. Stir in the cheese and season with salt and pepper. Stir until the cheese melts.

  4. Stir the pasta, tuna and peas into the sauce. Spoon everything into a baking tin, level the top and bake in a 180C oven for about 20 minutes until browned and bubbling.

If you like, toss some grated cheese with some breadcrumbs and sprinkle on top of the pasta bake before putting into the oven for a bit of crunch. Recipe serves 4.
